The Nashville Predators had high expectations going into last season, season 4. The Preds boasted a strong lineup and were expected to challenge for the conference title. However, just the opposite was true as the Predators were never able to get it together from the start. With a slow start off the gate, GM Cunti wasted no time trading, attempting to upgrade at goal with Brian Boucher. Boucher turned out that he couldn't handle the pressures of playing in Nashville and was traded away to the Devils later on in the season.
Blockbuster type deals were made in constant attempt to turn the team around, trading stars like Alexei Kovalev, Oleg Tverdovsky, Sergei Gonchar and acquiring new blood in the likes of Chris Pronger, Jeff O'Neill, Daymond Langkow.

Nashville did fight hard for a playoff spot throughout the season, but in the end did come up short. All in all, the Predators were a huge disappointment to head coach Ken Hitchcock, GM Biagio Cunti and to some of the elite GM's of the CLUTCH league. The largest issue the Preds had last season was goals against. The offensive minded team and defense struggled in front of whoever was in goal at the time. Goaltender changes came often in Nashville as well, as the Predators went through 3 goalies ending off with Tomas Vokoun. Vokoun came over from New Jersey and was regarded as one of the bright spots in Nashville with his strong play. Star forwards Mike Modano and Scott Hartnell had strong seasons. Jeff O'Neill and Chris Pronger had strong finishes to their season as well.
By missing the playoffs by merely 1 point, the Predators were favourites in the Season 4 Toilet Bowl. This time, they did not disappoint as they went on to win and became Season 4 Toilet Bowl Champions, although that is nothing that they should be bragging about.
Right now, the GM, coach, players and fans of Nashville are going to try to put last season in the past and look ahead to the future. The Predators have already made some major changes and there is no doubt that there are more to come. That will also include the selection of a new team captain!
