Injuries Plague Sens as they make the Final Push
Well, don't expect any mind-altering defeats and major upsets as we round off the end of this season in Ottawa folks. The Senators who have played the role of "King of the Upset" this season, pulling off seemingly impossible victories and very close to securing a playoff spot in the ultra-competitive Wales Conference, are not expecting much from this last 10 game stretch.
"We are a hurting unit out there" stated GM Schmucky this afternoon, "we've got Teemu, Alexei, Poti, Osgood, Bouchard and Tarnstrom who've all been injured and sat out games in the last week. "
Osgood has been missed. After Turek stole a game away from Pittsburgh, their likely round 1 foe, he got shelled in a game versus the Flyers; a game the Sens were missing their #1 Forward, #1 Defenseman and #1 Goalie.
"We just want to be healthy heading into the playoffs but we also want to stay ahead of the old New York Islanders club, thus, we have to finish 7th or better. We feel that the other seven teams would be great series foes, but the Isles have been nothing short of excellent this year."
