The Washington Capitals re-signed several key players recently, including strong forwards Mikael Renberg and Artem Chubarov. The return of these players gives Washington a strong core that could be supplimented by the signing of free agents during the offseason.

Veteran winger Renberg signed a three-year deal worth $3 million per year. He also received a $1 million signing bonus. The shifty playmaker scored 15 goals and added 38 assists during the regular season. He also had a goal and two assists during the playoff series with the Lightning.

Speedy center Artem Chubarov signed a three-year deal worth $2.4 million per year. He also received a $1 million signing bonus. Chubarov was acquired from Vancouver in the trade for Robert Lang and he did a commendable job on the second line. He scored 16 goals and dished out 26 assists in 76 games.
