Oilers Can't Get Past Nurminen in Season Opener
The Oilers certainly showed up Saturday vs. The Ducks in their season opener out-shooting the Anaheim Squad 37-24 but Pasi Nurminen kept his team in it with an star performance holding the game to a 2-2 tie. Benysek and Frolov scored in the first period puting the Oilers off to a good start. The Ducks later responded to their goaltenders awesome play and answered with a goal in the 2nd from Perrault and the tieing marker in the 3rd by former Oiler Jani Rita who was dealt as part of the Kariya trade to Anaheim during the Pre-Season.
Brenk shows Early Leadership for the Junior Oilers
In Edmonton Junior play Jake Brenk scored 2 goals in the 1st on their way to a 4-3 win against the Nashville Juniors. The game turned into a full out war and when the dust cleared there was 116 total minutes in penalties handed out, 3 Ejections and Jeff Dwyer of Nashville received a 3 game suspension, This was the first meeting between the Dwyer brothers (Jeff & Patrick) who are known for their agressive play. Both of them ended up leaving the game early after several fights.
