Junior Capitals Continue Good Preseason Showing

The Washington Junior Capitals defeated the Junior Rangers 1-0 on Day 10 to continue their good form in the preseason. Washington is now 4-1-1 on the exhibition slate.

After two scoreless and relatively uneventful periods, the game took off in the third. Washington took three penalties in the first 4:17, but New York was not able to convert on any of the chances. The Capitals then scored the game's only goal at 12:17 when Ryan MacMurchy converted from Sean Bergenheim and Sean Kotary. After the goal, the tide turned on the penalty front. New York took four minors to hurt their chances for a comeback. From 13:32 until the final buzzer, the Rangers were only at even strength for 47 seconds.

Brad Topping made 20 saves to earn the shutout victory and improve to 4-0-1. Terry Denike made 27 saves for the Rangers.

The Capitals are off for the next three days before visiting Philadelphia on Day 14.
