Junior Capitals Dim Junior Stars on Road
The Washington Junior Capitals skated to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Junior Stars in Dallas on Day 8. With the win Washington improves to 3-1-1 in the preseason.
Neither team scored in the first period, but the fans did see two fights. First Lance Moynch beat up Dallas' Barinka at 5:25, and later Fabien Laniel and Barinka fought to a draw.
Dallas got on the board quickly in the second period when Sannitz netted from Ott and Blazek after just 10 seconds. The Capitals upped the pressure and Jean-Claude Sawyer tied the game from Sean Kotary and Ivan Baranka at 5:24. Moynch dropped the gloves again 2:35 later in a draw with Blazek. The Capital was ejected and suspended for four games. Continuing to push the play, Washington took the lead on Brett Carson's goal from Sean Bergenheim and Cory Urquhart at 10:54. The Stars rallied to tie the game 3:21 later on Videl's goal, but the Junior Capitals would not be denied. Gennady Stolyarov became the hero of the night when he scored the game-winner from Bergenheim and Carson at 16:02.

Brad Topping stopped 28 shots to earn his third win of the preseason. Jason Bacashihua had 22 saves in the loss.
Washington is off on Day 9 before visiting the New York Junior Rangers on Day 10.
