Panthers Host Flyers / GM Denies Loungo Trade Rumors
The Floriday Panthers will host the Philadelphia Flyers today in pre-season play.
Roberto Loungo will be in net in what will be his first appearance at home this year. Loungo played his first game the other night in a 3-2 Panthers win against the Rangers in NY. The win brought the Panthers pre-season record to 2-2.
"I was a little off in the first period last game but settled in after that." Loungo told reporters. "It was nice to be back on the ice competing and I am looking forward to playing for our fans again."
Owen Nolan and Petr Bondra have been on fire this pre-season. Something the GM hopes continues all season.
"Production wise Nolan and Bondra are doing what we expect of them. It is good to see them getting in a rythem early." GM Perrault said after the morning skate.
Q. Is there any validity to the rumor in Long Island that Loungo is heading there?
"NONE. I have no idea where you guys come up with these rumors. Mr. Long would like nothing more then that but the reality is Loungo is a Panther and will continue to be a Panther not only this year but for many years to come. Roberto is and will continue to be a big part of our teams success. He is only 26 and is already one of the best goalies in the league and the best in his age group. He is the Panthers."
Well there you have it. Loungo is staying put and will be in net to lead his team against the Flyers later today.
