Garbage pileup delays Blues

After sending several players to there farm system for a conditioning stint the Blues called up such notables as Richards Hamhuis and Pyatt to take on the Hawks last night but an unfortunate accident involving a garbage truck and a small airplane delayed there arival for several hours and they where unable to play in the 1st preseason game of the season. Team Captain Radek Dvorak had these comments, "We saw it happen right in front of us. Brad was driving his hummer to the game from Worcester and we could see the plane was in trouble. It was losing altitude fast and it appeared to be heading for a nearby field. I guess the garbage truck saw it too cause all of a sudden it went strait into the ditch right in from of us. It rolled over and ended up on its side with garbage flying everywhere. Brad slamed on the brakes and we got out just in time to see the plane land in the field."
While the driver of the truck received a few cuts on his face and the pilot of the airplane dislocated his shoulder no serious injuries occured in the incident. Unfortunately for the Blues players a trafic jam insued and they where unable to drive threw it.

In the game Michel Riesen who is expected to star on the Blues farm team in Worcester scored the 1st goal of his career with the big club which was coincedently the first goal scored by any Blue this season. His goal tied it up after the Hawks scored in the 1st. The Hawks then went ahead agian near the midpoint of the 2nd and a late period goal by Mike Leclerc who was a free agent signing this offseason once again tied it up. In the 3rd period defencemen Mike Commodore scored his first which would put the Blues ahead by 1. Then once again the Hawks tied it up near the midpoint of the 3rd. Then late in the 3rd Todd Harvey scored his first to put the Blues up for good. An empty netter by Nicolas Corbeil sealed the deal late in the 3rd and the blues skated to a 5-3 victory.

Nicolas Corbeil was named the 2nd star and while he only scored 1 goal had 7 shots on net and was a dominant factor in the win. Petr Sykora of the Hawks was named the 3rd star for his 1st period goal and his 5 shots on net including a third period shot in which Tuomas Nissinen absolutely robed the Hawks on a sweet attept on net.
