Oilers Disappointing Tie with Ducks
GM Schmuck and his Oilers got on a plane to Anaheim Tuesday to meet the Ducks in their Pre-Season Opener. Veterean Joe Juneau Scored for Edmonton at 18:34 in the 1st Period. Ducks goaltender Pasi Nurminen did an Excellent job keeping his team in the game holding the oilers to just 1 goal. Anaheim was Out-Shot 23-10 in the first 2 periods, This is something Nurminen might have to get used to with the lack of depth in front of him. Recently acquired winger Asham tied the game up in the 3rd and Nurminen was able to hold off the relentless attack of the Edmonton Offense. The game was far from a friendly affair with 76 penalty minutes.
In other news... The Junior Oilers won their pre-season opener vs. Minnesota 3-2, In a solid team effort they out-shot the Junior Wild 35-18. Caron started off the scoring with a short handed marker with Brenk and Atherton adding two more in the 2nd.
Oilers Sign Simon:
The Oilers Sign 32 Year Old Enforcer Chris Simon to a 3 Year Deal. Simon will be used on the 4th Line and split the role with veteran Joe Juneau.
