Ottawa looking to become a playoff team!

The Ottawa Senators announced in a press conference today that they were still looking to make some moves; possibly big moves as GM Schmucky announced that he wants to "please the fans by taking the Sens to the playoffs."

When asked who he would be willing to move Schmucky stated,"I would move pretty much anyone to get this team to the playoffs. Right now we seem to have quite a bit of depth but are still lacking the superstars needed to become a playoff team."

With Ottawa being in a bit of a "General Manager" controversy over the off-season, the team was unable to move on some of the big name UFA's this year. The Sens are way under the salary cap and have plenty of room to add big dollar players to improve this team. Newcomer Brendan Morrison stated that he felt the team is set for the playoffs as is, but wouldn't mind a few big guns in the lineup to give the team an extra push down the stretch.

Recent reports have stated that the likes of Michael Ryder, Marty Turco, Teemu Selanne and veteran leader Petr Nedved are just a few of the names that have come up in recent trade talks, although nothing solid has surfaced.

What is to come of the Senators for this season is still yet to be seen but one thing we can be sure of is that they are not lacking the will to move people, just the opportunity thus far.
