Senators Fans Hope Break isn't a Bad Thing
The Ottawa Senators were rolling along in the preseason this year. The Senators were 3-1 with 19 goals for and only 8 against. Both of their goalies were boasting 2.00 GAA and both had solid performances to brag about. Dick Tarnstrom, Teemu Selanne, and Rico Fata were leading the team in scoring and down an unexpected path to victory.
However, Ottawa fans are nervous as the recent shut-down of the league for technical reasons has forced the Senators' streak to a grinding halt! Since the Senators are not even predicted to make the playoffs this year by most people's standards, many feel that they were riding a lot of momentum through this preseason and were hoping they would carry this into the early parts of the regular season as well.
When asked if he was concerned about the negative effects the break might have on his team, GM Schmucky replied, "We are not concerned about the break. The guys have been working really hard over the last 9 days and are anxious to get going again. We feel this has given us an opportunity to fine-tune some of our weak points and, of course, add another key defenseman to our lineup".
