Junior Capitals Top Dallas

The Washingotn Junior Capitals kept its slim playoff hopes alive on Day 144 in a 3-1 victory over the Dallas Junior Stars. The victory moved Washington to 30-32-11 and six points out of the final playoff spot.

Dallas jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period on Volrab's 15th goal of the season. Joseph and Niskala earned the assists at 2:50. The opening 20 minutes also featured a pair of fights as Dan Jancevski and Patrick O'Sullivan fought to a draw at 3:52, and Igor Shadulov got beat up by Steve Ott at 8:42.

Neither team scored in the second period, but Washington rallied for three power play goals to claim the win in the final 20 minutes. O'Sullivan got things started from Jean-Claude Sawyer and Lance Moynch at 1:18, before Sean Kotary netted the eventual game-winner from Jakub Cutta and Branko Radivojevic at 7:41. Sean Bergenheim completed the scoring from O'Sullivan and Moynch and 17:33.

Robert Muller made 26 saves to earn the win and improve to 5-0-2. Tyler Weiman stopped 27 shots in the loss and fell to 0-1-1.

The Junior Capitals return to action on Day 146 against Philadelphia.
