Florida Jr.s Clinch Playoff Birth
The Florida Jr.'s clinched a playoff spot last night with a 6-0 victory over the Phoenix Jr.'s.
The Jr. Cats failed to clinch a spot in their last 2 games when they lost to the NYIsles Jr.'s 3-1 and then 6-4 against the NewJrsyJr.'s. in game one of the nights double sim.
The Toronto Jr.'s made it interesting when they tied the St. Louis Jr.'s 4-4 and tying the Jr. Cats for the 8th and final playoff spot with the Jr. Cats having a game in hand.
That game in hand was the second game of the days double sim. The Jr. Cats needed a win for them to clinch a playoff spot and were coming into Phoenix hoping to snap their current 2 game losing streak.
The Jr. Cats made a statement going 3-10 on the power play and scoring 4 goals in the second to route the Phoenix Jr.'s 6-0 and clinched a playoff spot.
The Cats are currently in 6th with 85 points with one more game to play and can finish no lower then 8th. The Montreal and Buffalo Jr.'s both have two games to play and tied at 84 points.
"Anything can happen." GM Perrault told Phoenix Sports "The good news is we are in. We just have no Idea who we are going to play yet. Could be any one of four teams. That is why it is soooo hard to win in this league when even the top seeds are not clinched till the last day. There are so many teams that are evenly matched. The winner of any series will be the team that wants it more and gets a break here and there."
When asked about how the GM thought about the season he had this to say:
"We were given up on by a few people at the start of the season and quite frankly you can't blame them. The important part was that no one in this organization gave up and the players pulled it off and silenced our critics. We started the season riddled with injuries and it showed in the standings as we were in dead last in the conference. As players started getting healthy and our play got more consistent we found ourselves out of last and moving up in the standings. All of a sudden we were 10 points out of a playoff spot and that's when the fever hit. The last part of the season we were on of if not the hottest team in the league. We lost 2 of the last 3 and are still 7-3-0 in the last 10. The Players left everything out on the ice and they deserve all the compliments bestowed on them. They could of easily given up but instead they came together as a team, matured and most importantly stuck up for each other as they fought through the highs and lows and came out of it going to the post season. We will be a dangerous team in the playoffs."
There you have it Sports Fans.....with the playoffs slated to start on Monday and teams still jockying for which spot they will end up in.... the games on Saturday are going to be interesting to watch.
