DUCKS AND CANES SWAP PICKS AND PLAYERS

With Anaheim looking to capture more depth in their system, the Carolina Hurricanes quickly made some calls and got a deal done.

Heading to Carolina would be the Anaheim owned Dallas Stars pick, currently 8th overall, and speedy right wing Blake Comeau, a high energy forward who can also play center.

"We are looking to make a splash at this years draft," said junior coach Craig Hartsburg, who has spent much of the spring watching junior footage. "We have the second pick, and now we have the 5th and 6th, but the 8th will give us more options. We have wanted to move up to begin rebuilding our farm system and this was a good way to do it."

Gone from the team are the Hurricanes own first rounder and the Toronto Maple Leafs third. The Canes also sent offensive left winger Justin Keller to the Ducks as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.

"Comeau is more of our teams style," said Hartsburg. "We feel quite strong on the wing now with his acquisition."

The Canes now have several high end picks and there is a lot of speculation as to who will end up in the Carolina ranks.
