Capitals Silence Coyotes

The Washington Capitals improved to 19-24-4 on Day 86 after earning a 4-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes in the desert. Todd Warriner led the way with a pair of goals for the visitors.

Peter Tenkrat gave Washington a great start when he scored his fifth of the season from Oleg Saprykin and Radoslav Suchy at 17:25.

Phoenix tied the game on the power play when Kloucek netted from Salo and Datsyuk at 7:58. The Capitals battled back to regain the lead later in the period on Warriner's first of the game from Nik Antropov and Frantisek Lukes at 16:12.

Warriner made it 3-1 early in the final period when he converted from Severin Blindenbacher and Patrick Marleau at 4:00. The 'Yotes pulled a goal back through Afinogenov from Datsyuk and Vanek at 13:07, but Jonathan Cheechoo put the game away just 2:01 later. Warriner and Marleau setup the power play tally.

Kevin Weekes made 26 saves to earn the win and improve to 5-9. Patrick Lalime stopped 31 shots in the loss.

The Capitals visit Buffalo on Day 87.
