Junior Capitals Fall in Preseason Finale

After Washington failed to convert on a power play, New York opened the scoring through Stewart from Baranov and Lehtonen at 13:21. The Capitals managed eight shots on net in the period, but none got past Kelly Guard in the Isles' net.
The second period got off to a poor start for Washington when Greg Mauldin went to the box for hooking at 1:53. New York didn't score with the man advantage, but the Islanders did net two several minutes later. Perez scored first from Radunske and Guard at 5:06, and Sterling made it 3-0 from Guenet and Kadeykin at 7:20. The Capitals took two more penalties later in the period, but the team managed to kill them off.
Washington finally got on the board in the final period when Ryan MacMurchy netted from Zbynek Novak and Patrick O'Sullivan at 6:37.
Brad Topping stopped 34 shots in the loss, while Guard made 25 saves for the win.
