CANES AND STARS SKATE TO DRAW, CANES UNDEFEATED IN 12

Carolina

The Hurricanes continued their undefeated run with a second straight come back for a tie. Shane Doan, Kyle Welwood, Jeff Friesen and Cory Stillman did the damage for the Canes while Jose Theodore stood strong in between the pipes. Both Darcy Tucker and Jeff Woywitka added 2 assists in the contest.

After going down 4-3 early in the third period, Cory Stillman, the skilled centerman for the Hurricanes, put away his 9th to tie it up at 4. That score would hold up.

"We have shown our ability to never quit," said captain Shane Doan. "I think we are probably one of the toughest teams to put down totally in the league. We have been down early in a lot of games and it is something to work on, but we refuse to lose quietly, that is for sure."

With the tie, the Canes have stretched their unbeaten streak to 12 games. The new line of Wellwood, Tucker and Friesen has been raising the offensive bar for the squad since the Tucker acquisition and really have not let up on the throttle.

"We like to think we have many options out there," said head coach Joel Quenneville. "I try and keep the lines fresh and it makes it easy to have full confidence in all 4 lines."

The Canes have the night off.
