Junior Capitals Tie Junior Avalanche

The Washington Junior Capitals escaped defeat for the second straight game in a 3-3 tie with the Colorado Junior Avalanche on Day 27. The point moves Washington to 3-9-1 for the season.

Colorado opened a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Bergeron and Marjamaki. Bergeron's came at 7:37 from Hudler and Doherty, while Marjamaki netted at 12:05 from Klyazmin and Oduya.

The Capitals fought back in a tightly-played second period, and Jean-Claude Sawyer got Washington on the board at 5:07. His goal came from Sean Bergenheim and Gennady Stolyarov. A series of penalties followed the goal, the biggest being a spearing major to Colorado's Foote at 15:23. After Daley and Lance Moynch fought to a draw 42 seconds later, Stolyarov capitalized on the power play from Brett Carson and Patrick O'Sullivan at 17:32.

Another fight early in the third period saw Daley earn a game misconduct. O'Sullivan was his dance partner and the result was a draw. Washington continued their rally 1:01 after the fisticuffs when Sean Kotary netted from Zbynek Novak at 4:07. The Capitals couldn't hang on, however, and the Avalanche tied the game through Bergeron from Kesler and Hudler at 10:35.

Brad Topping made 24 saves for the Capitals, while Maxime Ouellet stopped 24 shots for Colorado.

The Junior Capitals are back in action on Day 28 in Boston.
