Panthers Defeat Flyers For Second Win

PHILADEPHIA-The Panthers flew into Philadelphia last night and had some confidence after snapping their losing streak in a close 3-2 win last night.

The Panthers came out flying again tonight edging the flyers in shots (13-8). It was the Flyers who got on the board first and early when Viktor Kozlov notched his 6th of the season at 1:44. The Panthers Petr Bondra tied it up with his first short handed goal of the year at 4:50. Mike Rathje gave the Panthers their first lead of the game at 7:06 when he tipped in a pass from Bondra. The Flyers tied it up at 18:39 when Mariusz Czerkawski scored his 4th of the year.

It was all Panthers the rest of the way. The only goal of the second was scored by Yanick Lehoux at 12:09 that ended up being the game winner and giving the Panthers a 3-2 lead. Yanick is having a gread year as he is third in team goals with 9. As he only plays on the fourth line that is quite an accomplishment for the young centre.

Valeri Bure and Michal Handzus scored insurance goals in the third to give the Panthers a 5-2 win and their second straight win.

The Panthers will now travel the Nashville to play the Predators.
