Senators Snap 9 Game Skid
The Ottawa Senators have finally snapped their 5 game losing streak as they defeated the Flyers 5-4 last night. GM Schmucky shifted the lines around placing Michael Ryder on the 2nd line with veteran Petr Nedved and moving Jere Lehtinen up to the first line with Morrison.
The player of the game was Captain Dick Tarnstrom. He had 1 goal and 2 assists, including a beautiful pass to set up Michael Ryder for the game winner! Tarnstrom was solid defensively as well finishing at a +1.
Michael Ryder fit into his spot on line two quite well as he scored the game winner and notched an assist. But the line shifting seemed to help Rico Fata more than anyone as he scored 2 big goals to keep the Senators in a close game and eventually lead them to victory.
Roman Turek was decent stopping 32 of 36 shots but was unhappy after the game, "I am being criticized for my poor play and blamed for losses but what do you expect when I get 36 shots a game! Then I play solid like last night and you are asking me if it will last? NO COMMENT!"
The Senators set off to play the surging Panthers tonight and hope to continue their longest winning streak in weeks, 1 game!
