Lightning Bounce Back

(Tampa) - Tonight, the Lightning bounced back after a terrible game and beat the Detroit Red Wings 5-2. A night after a 6-1 embarrassing loss to one of the worse teams in the League, the Minnesota Wild, the Lightning played a great game against a top team.

Hurme got his 2nd start in a row, to try and redeem himself after a sub-par performance and he played very well. He stopped 27 shots to earn the win and was strong, especially in the 2nd when the Wings outshot the Lightning 10-3. The Lightning held a one shot edge after 60 minutes and in the 3rd period, put the game away with 3 goals on 12 shots. Kolzig took the loss and was pulled in the 3rd for Shields after he gave up the 5th goal for the Bolts.

Offensively the team got contributions from the defence with Jillson leading the way with 2 goals. Kubina had 2 assists and Pothier, Svehla and Brewer all had assists to give the defence 7 points on the night. Nylander, Sullivan and Williams also scored for the Lightning while Jason Williams had both goals for Detroit.

15, 162 fans went home happy and the only concern for management was the loss of Pothier to an injury in the 1st. Thats 2 defencemen down in the last 2 games and it is starting to stretch the depth of the team. Demidov will see some time tonight in the game against the Flames and maybe more if McLaren is not ready to go.

The Lightning are looking to post back to back wins again and tonight it is rumored that Lehtonen will play in net to see if he can bring his personal win streak to 8. The team is starting to gell once again and look like the team from last season that went on to win it all. The division is up for grabs with a great race between the Leafs, the Bruins and the Bolts. It should be a great finish for sure.
