Matt Walker makes passionate plea for trade
Matt Walker, when discussing the Detroit game with local NBC Affiliate WGBH, was quoted as saying "With my performance against Detroit, I believe I have proven I have returned from my season-opening injury. Teams which were previously concerned that I was as brittle as ol' Glass Joe in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! should now see proof that it is no longer the case. I scored some freakin' points already. Put me in coach!"
He continued, "I obviously have contributions to give, but Boston does not appear to be inclined to give them to me any longer. I am pretty sure it is just personal on the part of GM Anderson, but **** him. I'll work out my own trade. Call me, or Anderson, and make it happen - put Matt Walker in your sweater."
Asked for comment, GM Joshua Anderson simply stated "Matt Walker was expected to be a big part of the Bruins' defense this year, but due to his untimely injury in game one, we reworked the defense in another view. While we had hoped Matt would earn his keep in winning us the Lays Kruncher award, with the excessive time missed, that would be impossible. Richard Jackman has assumed that responsibility, and Matt Walker is, in fact, expendable at this time."
"However," Anderson continued, "I've been working to unload him for some time to little avail. The current asking price is a low round draft pick. If no one comes up with that, Matt will find himself in the exact same spot - as a fill-in player we now know we can count on. In, essentially, five games, Matt has two points and twenty-four penalty minutes. For a fill-in third liner, that's all we need."
