Pens forgot to show up!!
Day 105 was a devastating loss for the Penguins against the #8 seed, Flyers. The Pens got trapped early and simply could not comback from the deficit in the 2nd period. Only 8:35 into the 1st poeriod the Flyers struck first against the struggling Penguins. Michael Schutte got his 8th goal of the season in the 1st. Despite out shooting them 12-5, in the first, Felix Potvin was just unstoppable in the net. He stopped all 12 in the first to take Philly into the 2nd leading 1-0. Less then 5 minutes into the 2nd period of play the Flyers struck first again. This time it was Brian Savage for the 17th time. This goal however was on the Power Play after Willie Mithcell got called for hooking. Kozlov and Liles got the assist. Less then 3 minutes later the Flyers again score with Savage for the 18th time this season, and the 2nd time today. Liles got his second assist while White got his first. The Penguins finnally sturck 12:15 into the second period with Bates Battaglia getting his 20th goal of the year. Once again the Pens outshot them 12-8 however got outscored 2-1 in the second. The third, Potvin completly shut down the Pens limiting them to 11 shots. Aubin allowed his fourth goal to White, which was his 11th on the year. The Pens dropped to 22-24-7 while the Flyers improved to 25-23-5. The Devils leapfrogged the Pens in the playoff race and the Devils are now 2 spots ouuta eighth while the Pens are now 4. Next game for the Pens is on Day 107 against the same Flyers.
