Florida Jr's Making Playoff Push After Horrid 1-10-1 Start

FLORIDA
The Florida Jr's are currently the hottest team in the league right now going 8-2 in their last ten. They also have an above .500 record 37-34-5 and are currently all alone in 7th spot.

SO WHAT...you may be asking yourself.....well here is the SO WHAT.

At the beginning of the season as with all teams there were high hopes for Florida's Jr. squad but hopes faded fast. Instead of coming out of the gate with a quick start to the season they had to be pushed in because injuries riddled the team in the beginning. Florida had no less then 4 -6 players injured more then once during the first half of the season.

Along with the injuries and partly due to them the Jr's started the season 1-10-1 and dead last in the Wales Jr. Conference. On top of that starting goalie Billy Thompson was struggling and back up Lukas Mensator was not doing much better.

Then somewhere down the line....as players started getting healthy....things slowly started to change.

Billy Thompson was struggling so bad he lost the starters job and back up Lukas Mensator started to find his game. Lukas took the reins and with the help of Thompson as back up have brought this team back to respectability.

Lukas's record is now 24-19-0 with 2 shut outs and he has solidified his spot as the teams starting goalie. The line of Viktor Bobrov, Igor Radulov and rookie Anton Borodkin are all atop the teams top point getters with Bobrov leading the team in goals (32) and points. His goal total is also tied for second in the league.

With 6 games left in the season Florida still has some work to do before they can clinch a playoff spot and it will be without rookie Anton Borodkin who has been suspended for 5 out of the last 6 for fighting.

So as the season comes to an end Florida Jr's hold their destiny in their hands. If they continue to play the way they have been the last 1/4 of the season they should have no problems clinching a post season birth.
