Junior Capitals Fall to Philadelphia

The Washington Junior Capitals' playoff hopes took a hit on Day 146 in a 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Junior Flyers. The loss drops Washington to 30-33-11 and seven points out of the final playoff spot.

Philadelphia jumped out ot a 2-0 lead in the opening period and never looked back. Stajan got the first from Ruzicka and Gauthier at 2:25, and Nolan extended the lead from Jessiman and Beauchemin at 3:38.

Washington pulles a goal back early in the second period when Sean Kotary netted from Branko Radivojevic and Igor Shadulov at 1:24. Unfortunately, Stajan scored his second of the game from Gauthier and Kiser just 1:01 later to make it 3-1.

The Capitals got it back to one goal after just 17 seconds of the final period. Greg Mauldin was the scorer from Maxim Orlov. Any chance of a Washington comeback was crushed when Ruzicka completed the scoring for the Flyers from Gauthier and Kiser at 4:28.

Robert Muller made 17 saves in the loss to fall to 5-1-2. Martin Gerber stopped 23 shots to earn the win and improve to 30-24-4.

The Junior Capitals visit Philadelphia on Day 149.
