(Tampa) - Fans in Tampa were hoping to see some extra hockey this season and with last nights game meaning so much, the Lightning management was hoping to have hockey after the regular season too. Gm Sprackman talked to the coach and together they came up with a line up that lit up the Flyers 9-4. Milan Hejduk saw some added ice time and rewarded the coach with a huge night.
"I knew if I had more time on the ice I could add some scoring. My play has been down a little the last 2 weeks and it was nice to go out and get 5 points. That first period was incredible. I am glad we were able to hold on for the win and get ourselves in the playoffs." Milan said after the game.
With 7 goals in the first, the Lightning cruised to an easy victory and knock out the Devils from the playoffs. This will set up a match with the Islanders for the 3rd time in the last 4 seasons. Gm Sprackman has very little hope of an upset but see's good things for the future of the team in years to come.
"I went out and traded away some extremely good and talented veterans for the future of this team. I didn't expect to be in the playoffs but now I can say we have over acheived and let the playoffs come. I expect to win one game in the playoffs, but that would be a little battle we could win. Its all about growing and this is another step for the franchise. After last seasons great run, we should be happy with our situation and let the games begin." Gm Sprackman stated.
So, up next is a playoff series with the best team in the league. If we want to win again, no better then starting with the best. We shall see what happens.
