Well... shit... again
What the Boston Bruins lose in revenue with their play on the ice, they should make at least some of it back through their participation in the Lays! Krunchers program.
Sean Brown displayed his math skills by counting up an amazing number of penalty minutes during the game, showing he finds himself already in mid-season shape, which is good, since he will miss the next three games.
Once again, the Bruins were woeful on offense. Of course, they also found themselves in the man disadvantage for what felt like the majority of the game, including most of the first period. This man disadvantage certainly did not help matters, to say the least. The inability of offense to once again create opportunities also served to hurt the defense.
Due to the repeated whistles, though, the Bruins were unable to find any offensive rhythm. They took only two shots on goal in the first - which makes sense, given they played nearly seventeen minutes shorthanded, and for five minutes of it were down two men. Allowing only two goals under those conditions is a testament to Antero Niittymaki's mad goaltending skills. At least, Boston fans hope that is what it is a testament to, and not the fallacy of the Ottawa offense.
Again, the Bruins did a few notable plays, as Martin Samuelsson netted his first goal in the big leagues to pull within two, in the second period, and Samuelsson later assisted on the Tomas Kopecky's goal in the third period, earning him the third star of the game.
All in all, though, it was a night to be forgotten. The Bruins will next square off against the Pittsburgh Penguins, as Saku Koivu sets out to extract some vengance on the team that dealt him.
