The Bruins Defensive Preview - Second Liners

One is a angel of free agent, arrived from Florida with thirty-six assists and only two penalty minutes in eighty-two games last year.

The other is a devil of a player who had more than ten penalty minutes for every point he was credited for - and had twenty-eight points in his seventy-seven games for Boston last season.

Together, they will make up the second defensive line for the Boston Bruins this year - the Brown Hill line, though neither is like sugar.

They are the Seans, Sean Hill and Sean Brown.

Sean Hill, arriving from Florida, was the team's top free agent signing this season. Blessed with a true defenseman's attributes - durable and disciplined, good puck control and accurate passing, defensive minded and competent with a slapshot - Hill will lead the second line defense in protecting Antero Niitimyakki and the Boston goal.

Sean Brown will be his counterpart on the opposite side of the rink. Stronger both defensively and offensively, Brown is a warrior... though some may call him a "goon". He is a attack-first, think-second guy, and for that reason, he led the team in penalty minutes last year with two hundred eighty-five. The team is already penciling him in for at least twelve games worth of suspensions.

They may seem like they go together as well as fire and ice, black and white, country and rap... but the Boston Bruins are banking on them keeping the red light off.

Projections -
Sean Hill - 82 games, 12-24-36
Sean Brown - 70 games, 4-20-24
