JUNIOR CANES GET TOUGH
What is expected and what is delivered can often be two separate things. Colin Fraser wanted to put an exclamation that this year, his potential is realized.
After the first two games, the talented center notched a quick 4 points with 1 goal and 3 assists in two consecutive victories. His only goal was a much needed short handed game winning tally.
After starting game 1 with big Mark Mancari and Corey Perry, the offensive pivot was put with Lauri Tukonen, who did not disappoint with top line duty.
"It really looked like these guys had something to prove," said head coach Craig Hartsburg. "I did not even have to make a speech, they were possessed when the game started."
The Canes exploded to show early on that they would not be pushed around. Corey Perry, Brent Seabrook, Andrew Peters, Anthony Stewart and Jordan Smith all combined for a slew of fights throughout the 2 contest, putting 4 players in the top 6 in the league in penalty minutes.
"It was a statement to the league," said Stewart. "The Canes are not soft and we will not let anyone tell us otherwise."
Colin Fraser did not care, however, as he quickly built up some numbers offensively to do his part.
"The game requires a lot of added pieces," said Fraser. "This year is my turn to put the puck in the net. I like guys like Stewey and Smitty take care of that sort of thing. This year, the Canes are going to show why we should have won last year."
