Bruins captains, alternates return

The Boston Bruins proudly announced the return of the 'C' to Tim Connolly's sweater for the upcoming season.

"First off, it seems appropriate given that his last name starts with a "C", don't you think?" GM Joshua Anderson joked as he presented the honor. "This will be Tim's third season as our Captain, and he has served us with dignity, valour, and outstanding play."

Anderson continued, "He has earned this, and the player vote was unanimous. Congratulations, Tim."

Connolly assumed the podium and thanked his teammates for the honor. "I also must thank the people of Boston for sticking with us through this recent rough patch. I am looking forward to a playoff run with the talent we have assembled here, and plan to honor the...uh... honor of the captainship for that run!"

Connolly shared for the team lead in assists last year, with forty-eight, while playing the second line with Keith Tkachuk and Martin Havlat. He played in all eighty-two games for the Boston franchise, one of only six Bruins to do so. He was fifth on the team overall in total scoring, with sixty-two.

The team also announced it was awarding the Alternate Captainships to Keith Tkachuk for the third season, and Jochen Hecht for the second. Neither was invited to make a speech.
