Capitals Name Captains

The Washington Capitals made a grand announcement recently to reveal the captains and alternates for CLUTCH 6 are... the same as those for CLUTCH 5. Patrick Marleau will return with the C, while Dan Boyle and Todd Warriner will each wear the A. The only new player with a funny letter on his sweater is junior Fabien Laniel who will lead the Kiddy Caps.

Marleau, 27, leads the way on the forward line as the No. 1 center and consistently shows good leadership and experience. Last season he scored 29 goals, dished out 39 assists and was +16 in 82 games. He also took just 4 PIMs.

Boyle, 30, is one of the leaders on the blue line for the Capitals. While not the top dog on defense, Dan does a good job keeping things organized and motivated in the back. Last year Boyle had four goals and 29 assists with 159 hits.

Warriner, 28, anchors the second forward line on the wing, and the speedy scorer is great on the ice and in the locker room. Last season Todd dealt with quite a bit of adversity, including a demotion to the third line, but he kept grinding and playing hard every night. A great example for the younger players in the ogranization, Warriner had 18 goals and 27 assists in 79 games last year.

Fabien Laniel will wear the C for the Kiddy Caps this season, and honestly we're not sure why. He had 13 goals, 13 assists and 246 PIMs in 63 games last season.
