The Boston Bruins Season Preview - Jochan Hecht
Jochen Hecht, the Boston team leader in both goals scored and points was one of only six players to see action in all eighty-two games last year. For good measure, he was lowest among top-tier players on the roster in penalty minutes, had ten power play goals, and buried five game winners.
About the only thing he did not do was strap on the pads and stop every puck fired at the net. But he may do it this year, just for fun.
Hecht will return to the top line, though it is uncertain if he will pair back up with Tim Connolly, or if he will play alongside Saku Koivu. Koivu is the best scoring option on the roster, but the team may decide to use him on the second line to exploit the match-up advantage.
"With improved options to distract from the defense, which focused on Jochan way too much last year," GM Joshua Anderson said in the pre-season press conference breaking down positions. "Furthermore, the defensive improvements we have made should also serve to decrease the amount of time we spend on the penalty kill - which should also serve to keep Jochan on the attack."
Big things are expected of Hecht as the team tries to return to the postseason. He is planning on not letting them down.
Prediction - 82 games, 41-52-93
