Capitals Scalped by Blackhawks

The Washington Capitals dropped its second straight game on Day 88, falling 4-2 to the Chicago Blackhawks in the windy city. Washington is 19-26-4 after the setback.

Chicago jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and never looked back. Orszagh started the scoring from Sykora and Mrazek at 9:39, before Boguniecki netted from Mara and Vermette on the power play at 17:27.

The Hawks stretched its lead to 3-0 with another power play tally in the second period. Sykora got the goal from Gomez and Orszagh at 14:17. David Vyborny finally lit the lamp for Washington with just eight seconds left in the second. Frantisek Lukes and Andrew Ference earned the assists.

Chicago ended any hopes of a Caps comeback when Kolozvary scored his 10th of the season at 11:10. Joffrey Lupul added a late goal for the Capitals from Oleg Saprykin and Dan Boyle at 15:29.

JS Giguere made 21 saves in the loss and fell to 20-14-5. Dan Cloutier stopped 28 shots to earn the win.

The Capitals return to home ice on Day 90 to face Los Angeles.
