Capitals Fall to Predators
The Washington Capitals saw its winless run extend to four games on Day 93 after a 4-2 loss to the Nashville Predators on home ice. Washington is now 19-27-5.
Nashville took the early lead when Modin scored from Bradley and Arnason at 2:52 of the first period. The Capitals answered just 38 seconds later on Severin Blindenbacher's fifth goal of the season from Dan Boyle and Todd Warriner. The Predators took the lead for good just under four minutes later when Hartnell netted at 7:20.
Thornton gave the Preds a two-goal advantage with a power play tally at 6:29 of the second period. Czerkawski and Hartnell assisted on the tally while Cory Sarich was in the penalty box for highsticking.
Washington pulled within one early in the final period on Ivan Rachunek's goal from Andrew Ference and Frantisek Lukes at 4:47, but the Predators put the game away when Sturm scored from Modano and Krestanovich at 8:55.
JS Giguere stopped 31 shots in the loss and fell to 20-15-5. Tomas Vokoun made 18 saves to earn the win.
