Senators Make a Big Deal to improve!

The Ottawa Senators made a deal to shake up their team and try to make that little push at the playoffs.

However, this is not your typical "deadline deal" as the players involved are not rentals, but players both teams can use to improve in the future.

The Senators acquire flashy forward Jeff Friesen from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for youngster Michael Ryder, who is a stellar passer and strong winger, and Todd Fedoruk who is simply a BEAST on the wing.

Ottawa is happy to acquire a player like Friesen to play with Bouchard on line 2 and even take over on the first line if Selanne decides to go elsewhere next season being that he is a free agent.

Friesen possesses an 80 PA rating, a 79 SC rating an 83 SP and a whopping 92 DU. Thus, he is a legitimate first liner on most teams in this league. Friesen will help out on the Powerplay and also has a decently priced 4 year deal that will keep him in Ottawa as long as Schmucky feels he's helpful. In his first game Friesen notched a goal and seemed comfortable in his new surroundings immediately.

The Sens are looking forward to the playoffs for the first time in 4 seasons! Go Sens Go!
