Capitals Corner Profile: Artem Chubarov

In today's edition of Capitals Corner we'll meet forward Artem Chubarov. The 26-year-old pivot joined the team last season in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks.

Chubarov is 6-1 and 189 pounds. A very fast skater, Artem is also a great skater and excellent puck handler. He passes pretty well and has good strength. Chubarov is good in his own end, but he's also strong in the offensive zone. Last season he scored 16 goals and added 26 assists with 109 hits and 44 PIMs in 75 games.

Born in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Artem enjoys spending his summers back in his homeland. His favorite television show is Spin City, and on the big screen his number one is Casion. When asked what he would like to be if not a professional hockey player, Chubarov responded that he'd like to be President of Russia.

His greatest hockey moment was scoring the overtime goal in the gold medal game against Canada at the 1999 World Junior Hockey Championships. We can only hope he has more moments like this for the Capitals.

Come back next time when we take a look at another player in Capitals Corner.
