Blues win home opener

After dropping there first game of the season the Blues came home to face the Bruins of Boston. Things however did not look good as the Bruins scored just 1:20 into the game. The Goal silenced the 14879 who attended the crowd. However that would be the only goal the Blues new netminder Brent Johnson would allow s he stood on his head and earned himself a first star nomination with the first win of his career with the mighty Blue orginization. After the goal the Blues top line who struggled in the first game of the season took over the game . Brad Richards scored his 1st of the season at the 3:48 mark of the 1st and then got his secound at the 14:14 mark of the 1st which proved to be the game winner. Then in the secound the Blue added an insurance goal when Bobby Holik got his secound of the season at the 13:24 mark. The Blues then coasted till the end of the game as there really wasn't a lot of emotion in this one with only 5 penalties called and no real agression between the 2 teams. Team Captain Redek Dvorak had these comments, "We played a solid 2 way game tonight. Brad was awesome and stepped up his game after our disappointing opener. Noone was harder on the Blues then its players as we are looking to repeat as the conference champions. this was a good first step for us. However tomorrows game will be a better indicator of our heart. Its a back to back situation against perhaps our most hated rivals the Wings. This is the team we beat out for top spot in the conference last season and our always tough to play against.
