Panthers Extend Winning Streak In Win Against Predators
NASHVILLE-The Panthers flew into Nashville right after their victory over the Flyers to play the Predators who were unbeaten in their last five games going 4-0-1 in that span.
This game feature two of the top teams in the league and lived up to its billing. This game had the atmosphere of a playoff game. The Predators looking to join the Carolina Hurricanes atop the league standings and a Panther team who is playing its 4th game in four nights and trying to keep pace.
It was the Predators who struck first and it was on the power play at 13:17 as Andrew Brunette scored his 15th of the season to give the Predators a 1-0 lead. The Panthers Patrik Stefan notched his 8th of the year at 19:14 to send these two teams into the locker room deadlocked at 1.
Nashvilles Marco Sturm scored the only goal of the second period at 3:44 to give the Predators a 2-1 lead going into the third and final period.
Both teams battled hard and neither team was about to give up. Valeri Bure tied the game at 2 at 14:48 and it was game on. Roberto Loungo was sharp when he needed to be in this one and made a couple game saving saves to keep the Panthers alive and were looking at overtime. Then with less then a minute to play Lucas Krajicek tipped a pass from Pierre Dagenais past Nashville goalie Tomas Vokoun to give the Panthers a stunning come from behind victory to extend their winning streak to three games.
The Panthers have tommorrow night off and will be travelling to Columbus to play the Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
