CISAR ARRIVES FOR FIRST PRACTICE

Carolina

Only hours after hearing about his deal from Vancouver to the Carolina Hurricanes, Marian Cisar arrived in Raleigh for his first practice with the team.

"He has some excellent skill," said head coach Joel Quenneville. "He has a quick trigger and there is a lot of velocity on that shot of his. I have a feeling he will be a good addition to the club if we can utilize his offensive talents."

Cisar, 27, has had a mediocre start on a squad that was not using him to his fullest offensive extent. In 27 games play, the young right winger has only managed to amass 7 goals and 7 assists. He is also -7, which is good enough to be a team worst on the Hurricanes.

"We have accepted that he is not a solid contributor in his own end," said Quenneville. "He was not brought in for that, but we are going to have to find a way to capitalize on him any way we can."

The Canes have put the potential sniper on a line with playmaker Cory Stillman, a decent defender himself, and Mike Fisher, who aside from Kris Draper is likely the teams best defensive presence of the forwards.

"I look forward to a chance to play with him," said Stillman. "He has great skill and he is shifty. I think he'll find the openings and as long as I can find him, it will likely be a good union. Fish and I already have pretty good chemistry, so we are hoping this guy can step in and bury a few chances. That's all I am hoping for anyways."

The new look Canes will take the ice against the New York Rangers, in New York in a day from now. Theodore will get the start.
