Panther Winning Streak Hits 3 With 2-1 Victory Over Preds
The Florida Panthers put their modest 2 game winning streak on the line against the Nashville Predators. It was also the start of the post Michal Handzus era as he was traded the Blues before the game.
Florida for the third game in a row out shot the opposing team but needed a late period goal to secure a 2-1 victory and extend the Panthers winning streak to three games.
The Panthers drew first blood in the first period when Stephen Weiss converted a pass from Petr Bondra at 15:58 to give Florida a 1-0 lead after the first period.
Scott Hartnell scored just :44 seconds into the second period to tie the game at 1. Roberto Loungo shut the door the rest of the game and was named the games first star stopping 25 out of the 26 shots he faced.
Valeri Bure scored his third goal in two games at 16:39 of the third period to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead. That lead held up as the game winner and the Florida Panthers won for the third straight game.
The Panthers will now head out on the road for a couple games. They will first go to Buffalo for a rematch with the Sabres before going to Carolina to play the rubber match against another top team in the league in the Hurricanes.
