Coyotes Eat Up Panthers 4-1

It was newly aquired Panther goalie Jussi Markkanen's debut and the Coyotes took advantage of it by only needing two periods to dismantle the Panthers.

The Panther goalie didn't get much help either as they (the panthers) were out shot 10-6 and were out scored. The Coyotes got two quick goals in the middle of the first to put the Panthers back on their heels. Tomas Holmstrom started the scoring at 11:44 for a 1-0 lead. Just under a minute later at 12:21 Pascal Rheaume notched his 5th of the year to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Alexei Yashin gave his team a 3-0 lead at 6:09 of the second period and the Coyotes were not yet done with the Panthers back up. Just over a minute later at 7:22 Henrik Zetterberg scored his 3rd of the year giving the Coyotes a commanding 4-0 lead.

Jussi seemed to settle in after that but it was way too late. Patrik Stefan scored a rare power play marker at 17:40 to cut the lead to 4-1 but it too was a case of way too little ...way too late as it was the only time the Panthers got one past Patrick Lalime who was named the games first star.

Next up for the Panther are the Red Wings.
