KIRK MCLEOD ASSESSED AND FOUND TO BE OKAY FOR LONG PATH OF FULL RECOVERY
Carolina
With so much doubt in the future of young center Kirk McLeod, a ray of light was put upon the Carolina Hurricane. Kirk McLeod, who received a sickening injury during a crash into the boards, was diagnosed with three fractures, all of which will not be career threatening.
"It has been a tiring process," said McLeod. "Not just for me, but my family and friends as well."
The Hurricanes have flown in the family to be by the side of their family member. McLeod, 24, has shown much appreciation for everyone who has sent letters of encouragement and messages of love.
"It is really hard to wake up in the morning and not feel something ofr everyone who has been behind me. Injuries are a part of the game but this is easily the worst thing I have ever had happen to me physically. I can still picture looking down at my arm and not being able to feel anything. It was a terrifying moment to say the least."
The crash occurred when McLeod tried to beat out an icing and lost an edge. The youngster ended up sliding at full speed towards the boards and extended his right arm to cushion the blow. Unfortunately, his arm could not withstand the impact and folded in three places.
"Luckily, it could have been worse. I can at least move forward now and try and put back together my career."
