Baby Bruins drill Jr Oilers

Despite a complete collapse in the first period, the Providence Bruins held off the Edmonton Jr Squad for the 4-3 victory.

Leading the way for Providence was Darren McLachlan, who had one goal - his first of the year - and one assist, playing plus-one hockey, in only nine minutes of ice time. For good measure, McLachlan added in two bone-crushing hits on JrOiler players.

Brett Nowak and Ivan Huml were also 1-1-2 on the game, though with considerable more ice time (twenty-five and twenty-two minutes, respectively).

A full house of 10,000 fans showed up to witness the Providence win, and the travesty of justice that occurred when the three game stars were awarded to the Edmonton development squad. Somehow, the tally came out where Tony Salmelainen, Paul Flache, and Grigory Shafigulin were deemed best in show at their respective 1-1-2 tallies as well.

Adding the fourth goal for Providence was Paul Gaustad, who, like Nowak, scored his ninth of the year.

Jordan Sigalet stopped twenty-three of twenty-six shots to improve to 11-27-1. Outside of the scoring, the only other real action happenned when Alexei Semenov and Jaakko Harikkala fought to a draw at 06:48 of the second period.
