Capitals Frozen by Penguins
 The Washington Capitals outshot the Pittsburgh Penguins 28-18 on Day 89, but it wasn't enough as the Pens skated to a 2-1 victory on home ice.  The loss drops Washington to 15-23-5 for the season.

The loss drops Washington to 15-23-5 for the season.Pittsburgh opened the scoring on Battaglia's goal from Eaves at 13:07 of the opening period. The tally proved to be the only score of the first 20 minutes as the teams combined for just 14 shots.
The tight-checking action continued in the second period, and it wasn't until Elias netted for Pittsburgh from Shvidki and Malik at 15:44 that either team scored again. Once again there was just one goal in a period, and the teams managed only 13 shots over these 20 minutes.
Washington turned things on in the final period, and Anson Carter made it 2-1 with a power play goal from Zigmund Palffy and Bryan Berard at 6:16. Unfortunately the Caps could not find another goal despite outshooting Pittsburgh 14-5 in the period.
Manny Legace made 16 saves in the loss for Washington and fell to 12-20-2. J-S Aubin stopped 27 shots to earn first star honors and the victory for the Penguins.
The Capitals are back on home ice on Day 91 against the Montreal Canadiens.
