Junior Capitals Beaten by Blackhawks
The Washington Junior Capitals saw their two-game winning streak end on Day 83 in a 3-2 loss to the Chicago Junior Blackhawks. Washington is now 18-20-3 for the season.
The Caps came out quickly in the first period, and after a fight between Greg Mauldin and Chicago's Taylor, Washington took a 1-0 lead. Ryan MacMurchy got the goal from Mauldin and Igor Shadulov at 15:55.
Chicago turned it up in the second period, and Mokhov tied the game from Luchkin at 3:19. The Blackhawks outshot Washington 10-6 in the period and controlled the play.
The 'Hawks took their first lead of the game at 8:53 of the final period on Loya's goal from Wennerberg. The Capitals answered two minutes later with a power play goal from Cory Urquhart to tie the game. Zbynek Novak and Branko Radivojevic assisted on the goal. The tie didn't last long, however, as Zeiler netted his 10th of the game from Rajamaki and Tkachenko to give Chicago the victory.
Brad Topping made 33 saves in the loss for Washington. Craig Anderson stopped 27 shots to earn the win for the Blackhawks
