Junior Capitals Dethrone Kings
The Washington Junior Capitals won their second straight game on Day 80 in a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Junior Kings. With the two points, Washington improves to 18-19-3 for the season.
After a scoreless first period that saw Washington dominate the play, the Capitals opened the scoring early in the second period on the power play. While Los Angeles' Zion was in the box for spearing, Ivan Baranka converted from Patrick O'Sullivan and Jean-Claude Sawyer at 1:54. Just under 10 minutes later, Greg Mauldin scored from Fabien Laniel and Sawyer to make it 2-0.
The Kings tried to mount a comeback in the final period, but Robertson's goal from Misharin and Mantyla at 3:12 was all they could muster. Washington did a good job defensively to preserve the win, holding Los Angeles to just five shots in the period.
Brad Topping made 21 saves to earn the win and improve to 9-12-2. Sebastien Caron stopped 33 shots in the loss.
