Little Toronto edges Providence
The losing ways continued for the Boston Junior squad, as they were edged out by the Little Leafs, 3-2 in Providence.Eric Staal earned himself the top star with a one goal - his twentieth of the season - and one assist effort in the outing.
The scoring commenced with a Joni Lindlof on a power play effort. The Bruins defense was left stunned, since they expected someone named "Joni" to be a chick. One minute earlier, Jake Taylor - not the one from Sixteen Candles - had been penalized for a bullshit cross-checking call.
The pretty red light went quiet for the remainder of the first period, though the doors to the penalty boxes needed to be oiled from overuse. Providence found themselves at a man disadvantage four times in the first, in addition to two minutes of four-on-four following a Heid-Gaustad draw.
The second period was Maple Leaf heaven, with Staal and Petr Prucha notching goals past Jordan Sigalet, who fell to 10-25-1 on the season. Providence coaching was overheard mumbling about complete incompetence, and insisted on finding some individuals who could actually do some goaltending in next year's draft. Twice more, Providence was penalized, giving Toronto six power play opportunities on the game.
The come back began at the 07:28 mark, when Tuuka Makela proclaimed his offensive arrival with a stick side netwhistler on Dimitri Patzold. However, the Teeny-Weeny-O'Ronto squad clamped down on defense and stopped the Providence O'ffense until there was less than a minute to play.
Ivan Huml added his fifth of the season to close it to a one goal margin, but despite the efforts, Providence was unable to find the game-tying goal.
It was an overall paltry offensive effort, as Providence took only nineteen shots on goal, compared to Toronto's thirty-four.
For a bright spot, down in the farm minors, Ryan Reinheller scored four goals to embarrass Ryan Munce in Hamilton's 7-4 win.
