Bruins on pace for bonus
Before the season, the Boston Bruins announced they had enrolled in the Wal-Mart Red Light Special Sponsorship Program, which awards $1.2 million to any participating franchise which scored two hundred or more goals, plus another half-million if the team scoring cleared two hundred and fifty goals on the year.
As of the team's victory over the Flyers in game fifty-six for the Bruins, the team is sitting at 186 goals, putting it in easy reach of the two hundred goal plateau.
Additionally, as of now, the team is projected to score more than two hundred-sixty goals on the year, puting the bonus half-million in reach, theoretically.
"We're pleased to look at these statistics and think we have the possibility of the free money," GM Joshua Anderson said, "but of course, we don't plan to let up. You never know when a scoring rut may occur, or when an injury may strike. The Bruins hope to continue our winning streak and our march up the standings, and to claim the additional funds would, of course, be a huge assist to us in our offseason plans. But, let's be honest - we'll take it one game at a time and are happy to be a part of the team."
