Junior Capitals Fall to Detroit
The Washington Junior Capitals fell behind 3-0 and couldn't complete the comeback in a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Junior Red Wings on Day 109. The setback drops Washington to 22-27-6 for the season.
Detroit got off to a quick 2-0 lead after power play goals from Schubert and Davis in the first 5:21. Davis and Seluyanov assisted on Schubert's goal, while Maximeko and Blatak earned the helpers on Davis' tally. Nearly 10 minutes later Maximenko scored a goal of his own from Stuart and Davis to make it 3-0. The Capitals finally got on the board 37 seconds later as Branko Radivojevic lit the lamp from Sean Kotary and Zbynek Novak at 15:33.
Washington scored again midway through the second period to make it a 3-2 game. Mikhail Kuleshov got the goal at 9:47. There were no assists.
Neither team managed to score in the final period as Detroit held on for the victory. Brad Topping made 28 saves in the loss for the Caps. Oliver Dannel stopped 20 shots to earn the win for Detroit.
