JUNIOR CANES DUO COMES OUT SHINY AND NEW
Carolina
After a season of disaster with camps, the Carolina Hurricanes received some excellent news late Tuesday regarding their talented duo Stephen Dixon and Jeremy Colliton. For the second week of camps for the two forwards, they received rave reviews from the training staff and seem to have sponged in all the info.
"They looked great this morning in practice," said head coach Craig Hartsburg. "Dix has really made some serious progress this season. Jeremy also looks like he has the stuff to be a solid contributor next season. I feel very good about these two now."
Dixon, who has been lighting up the score board in AA, has committed himself to making the club next season.
"I know I am only 18 but I feel my camps went extremely well this season and I think that plus my desire to get there is going to get me a full time spot with the junior club," said Dixon, who is currently playing center but has been told that next season, he will find himself on his natural left wing side. "I think that coach wants Jeremy and I to fll in on the checking line and maybe chip in some points. By the looks of things, we will be playing with Mike Richards, which is great news for us. We al played together in several world events. It should be a great fit."
Meanwhile, Jeremy Colliton also had a good camp and has left management excited about the possibility of adding this duo to the lineup next season.
"We told them we needed more responsible forwards next year," said Hartsburg. "This year, we have a lot of flash but no defensive hustle. I want these two to set the tone and I think both of them can do that."
